Baltimore is a croc

I just got back from Baltimore where I had a sleepover with the sharks at the National Aquarium. Photos, stories and goodies to come…
We took the Chinatown bus, famous for its lack of regard for American traffic laws, and arrived in Baltimore in 3 hours. It dropped us off at a gas station off of the highway and we were on our own. We called for a cab to get us into the city and were picked up by the most ghetto ride I have ever seen. The cab, with its windows down (probably broken) and its “Black Ice” tree shaped air freshener (all 3 from the multi-pack) hanging from its rear view mirror, drove us through the Baltimore ghetto. I wish I had photos of this cab but I was too scared to get out my camera.
We arrived at Lexington Market, our first stop in the marvelous Baltimore metro, for some crabcakes at Faidley’s. Lets just say that I knew right away that we were below the Mason-Dixon line when “Greens” on the menu turned out to be buttered collard greens.

You love squeezing the edamame out of the pod? Me too… With tears of joy when I can do it over and over, too!
1 commentSpam

I check my Gmail Spam box every once in a while for lost emails and/or goodies like this…
I am not sure how this one made it in there because there is no “V**agra” or “Peni5″ or “C1ali$” in the subject line.
No comments yetFriday the 13th

This is the worst thing ever!!! TasteSpotting, my favorite site (this was really on the top of my list) has been shut down due to “legal issues”!
TasteSpotting.com was the one site that I checked at least once a day!! In case you never visited TasteSpotting, it had big glossy photos of tasty foods linking you to recipes/blogs updated every hour.
I was totally bummed when there were no new posts yesterday, I thought the site was broken… Now it is gone. Forever. Where am I going to go for lunch ideas? Dinner ideas? Killing time? I don’t even know what happened!
I need a drink now.

From my favorite website of the day. You can also learn about how to talk to your cat, how to grow grass in someone’s keyboard and etc.
Murakami
I went to see the Murakami show at the Brooklyn Museum over the weekend. It was nice.
Not to mention the dedicated air conditioner they have in there when it was 100 degrees outside.
Hot weather = good excuse to get your butts to the museums.
Wristband from the exhibition = I am a product.

TOO HOT TO BLOG

You know you’ve made it when GAP wants a piece of you.
I saw this ad on Bleecker and Lafayette last night and you bet it stopped me in my tracks. Kiki Smith and Cai Guo Qiang has been GAPped. I know the G-A-P has been doing stuff with Koons and the “cool” art for a while, but I was shocked to see Cai Quo Qiang on here. Not to mention the weird association with the Whitney Biennial? I thought the Whitney Museum of American Art was for American artists…
Hmmmm… I guess I kinda still want that t-shirt cuz I am so obsessed with this guy.
It is really too hot to blog. It is about 100 degrees out there right now and it isn’t going to get cooler anytime soon…
2 commentsBugs and Blocks

I have been playing much Tetris lately… to the point that every time I close my eyes I am seeing bricks dropping. I dream about fitting the blocks perfectly next to each other while scoring tetris after tetris.
Tonight, I am taking a break from that to watch some Planet Earth. I am watching the episode on Caves. I swear this same exact bug was just in this episode creeping through some dark cave. I found this bug on the floor of my apartment last year. Pretty freaky huh? I have no idea what it is. Do you?
2 commentsManhattanhenge

My officemate’s boyfriend works at the American Natural History Museum. Earlier this week, she forwarded me an email, sent to the museum staff by the Director of the Hayden Planetarium, about this special Manhattan sunset. The “Manhattanhenge” is when the sun is in perfect alignment with the city grid, fully illuminating every single cross-street for the last fifteen minutes of daylight.
We were hanging out by 21st Street around the time of the sunset, so we stepped out at 8:10 for the sunset. According to the Director of ANHM, the best location to view this is on one of the wider cross streets like 14th, 23rd, 34th and 42nd. It was a pretty awesome view… If you missed it yesterday, you should try to see it today or in July…
Today: May 30 — 8:16 p.m. EDT
JULY
Half Sun on grid: Saturday, July 12 — 8:25 p.m. EDT
Full Sun on grid: Friday, July 11 — 8:24 p.m. EDT
I love this guy…
