Wrong Number Mystery: Edition 2

It has been a little while since the last ridiculous wrong number caller. Here is another one from this morning:

Call transcript from anonymous caller at 917-664-3xxx:

<Phone Rings>

Paula: “Hello?”

Caller: “Who is this? Somebody call me from this number? What business is this?”

P: “I am sorry, I didn’t call you from this phone.”

C: “Then why do I have your number on my phone?”

P: “I am sorry, I don’t know.”

C: “You F***ING IDIOT…”

<Caller hangs up phone>

P: “…”

Is there such thing as bad phone karma? What did I do to deserve verbal assaults over the phone? Why is everyone who calls my work phone so angry?

Gardening

garden.jpg

About a month ago, I wanted to start a little garden in my apartment. So I started by germinating a handful of thai basil seeds.

After a few days, I transferred the baby plants into 2 pots, one terra cotta and one plastic. I placed the beefier and prettier ones in the terra cotta pot, and the scrawny ones in the plastic pot. 4 weeks later, the ones in the plastic pot are doing way better than the plants in the terra cotta pot.

The plastic pot plants are behaving like rebellious teens.

déjà vu: elefant

The circus is in town so the elephants snuck into the city last night. I went to see Ringling Bros./Barnum & Bailey walking in with the elephants from the tunnel to Madison Square Garden on 34th last night. Elephants are so cute… :) These guys are probably pretty heavy but they are fast walkers.

When I saw the ringmaster last night, it felt as if we have met in a previous life. I worked on a pitch for the redesign of the Ringling website at another job. I had to look at circus photo for quite a while…

Easter is Dead to Me

cadburyminieggs-sm.jpg
I like to celebrate Easter by eating a big one-pounder bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs. In fact, it is about the only thing I do for the holiday.

No other pebble chocolate candy can compare to this Easter-exclusive candy. I know they are all just candy-coated chocolates, but Cadbury MINI eggs are really special. They are creamier than other ones and the matte candy shell is so thin. There is this intense artificial vanilla flavor that will make you sick after a whole bag. They are highly addictive but your addiction will last only 1 week. I have been craving these for some time now… They are usually sold at Duane Reade or CVS or other typical drugstores around Easter time. I raided 3 Duane Reade’s in midtown today. None.

I don’t want the big nasty Cadbury marshmallow eggs; I don’t want rabbit-shaped chocolate; I don’t want egg-shaped M&M’s; and I don’t want peeps.

What now? I really don’t know… I am lost.

Happy St Paddy’s day?

Hmmm…….. yuck. I am glad that this is red and not green meat…

Dragon meat, which appeared in several Harry Potter books, is supposed to be green…

I want to believe

cai.jpg

It was an artful weekend. I went to see the Whitney Biennial on Friday and Cai Guo Qiang at the Guggenheim yesterday. For me, the show at the Whitney was not as impressive as the Guggenheim, so I am not going to do a recap on the Biennial here.

I want to Believe is a retrospect of Cai’s work. I wasn’t too familiar with his work before going to the show, but I think there was a good range at the exhibition. Overall, it was really inspiring and almost brought tears to my eyes. It was so inspiring that I am thinking of changing the spelling of my last name from “Tsai” to “Cai”.
